Your Occupation: Retired. I spent 17 years at FWFD in Safety Education at Safety Village, and 8 years at Three Rivers Running Company. I retired in March of 2017.
How long have you been on the committee? Originally I learned to run with the Rats in Training in 2006. I started on the committee in 2008, and I took over as Director of the race in 2010.
What is your job on the committee? Race Director
What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? I enjoy giving back to the community. 
What is your most memorable experience with the event? It’s a great experience watching the faces of the runners passing the finish line.

What is your job on the committee? Maintaining registration page, Facebook Page, and FWRC Liaison

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? It supports a great cause.

What is your most memorable experience with the event?  Aside from running it, that would be maintaining Run Signup registration site.

Your Occupation: Development Manager at Junior Achievement

How long have you been on the committee? Since it began in 2000. I created the race and was the initial race director.

What is your job on the committee? Course Marshall and whatever they need

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? Mostly, I enjoy the fact that so many people love the event. I also love working with others on the committee and watching it all come together.

What is your most memorable experience with the event?   There are several, but probably the first year. There was so much anxiety getting a major event to take place downtown. There were not downtown races for several years at that time. We certainly had to work out some kinks.

Your Occupation: I am the Executive Director of Central YMCA.

How long have you been on the committee? Since 2015!

What is your job on the committee?  I Organize the food tent for the runners.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event?  It’s exciting cheering on the runners after they complete the race at the finish line!

What is your most memorable experience with the event?  It was memorable when the donations to our YMCA from the Rat Race broke $100,000 cumulative amount!

Your Occupation:  Estimator / Project Manager at A. Hattersley & Sons.

How long have you been on the committee? Since 2009.

What is your job on the committee? Help with Packet Pickup, Rats in Training, Race Day Signage and whatever “The Big Cheese” needs done.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? I enjoy working with great people who are also fellow runners and working for a great cause for the YMCA Strong Kids Program.

What is your most memorable experience with the event? I have many memorable experiences seeing many of the “Rats in Training” finish their first race achieving their running goals, and also seeing former “Rats” continue in other races.

Your Occupation: Graduate of Concorida University-Chicago, Director of Christian Education, now Classified Sales at KCP Media

How long have you been on the committee? Since 2012! 

What is your job on the committee? I am currently in charge of door prizes.

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? We have a beautiful course and great committee.

What is your most memorable experience with the event? You can’t beat running through the crunching leaves and smell of fall!

Ryane Dunaway

Your Occupation: Exective Director, Girls on the Run, NEI, RRCA Certified Running Coach and ACE Certified Personal Trainer, Weight Management Specialist, and Sports Conditioning Specialist

How long have you been on the committee? 2017

What is your job on the committee? I promote within my network and also volunteer on race day. I am in charge of race day packet pickup including the setup and tear down. I also attend meetings and am available for anything asked of me. 

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? I enjoy the accountability. I love working with this amazing group of people to ensure the best season yet!

What is your most memorable experience with the event? I am newer to the racing circuit in Fort Wayne, and I LOVED the “community feel” of last years’ race.  I’ve raced in many cities, and was very much drawn to the love and support felt right here in Fort Wayne! I now enjoy being a part of helping this race THRIVE!

How long have you been on the committee? Volunteering since 2016 and started on committee in 2019

What is your job on the committee? Water Stations and website

What do you enjoy most about volunteering with this event? The other committee members. Their passion for the event and the people who participate makes this such a great team to be apart of.

What is your most memorable experience with the event?  I will never forget the great hunt for the missing water table of 2018!
